Breakfast is STILL the MOST important meal of the day!!

What you’ve heard all your life is actually true…expecially for athletes. Your first meal of the day, provides energy to the body at a time when glucose levels are at their lowest. Glucose is what food is converted to in the body for energy use. Any excess glucose is stored in the liver and muscles as Glycogen. This provides us with some energy stores if our glucose levels get too low.

Coach’s Tip: Eat breakfast EVERY morning. If you are not a big meal eater, try something quick. A bowl of instant oats with some fruit or half a bagel with nutella or peanut butter and/or a banane are 2 quick and easy ways to ensure you have LONG-TERM energy for your day.
